The 11th edition of the Swiss Geoscience Meeting focued on the latest advances in research in geosciences. It was held 15th and 16th November 2013 in Lausanne.
The Faculty of Geosciences and Environment of the University of Lausanne, the Musée Cantonal de Géologie and the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) cordially welcomed the 750 participants in the 11th Swiss Geoscience Meeting held on 15th and 16th November 2013 in Lausanne.
On Friday 15th, the theme of the 11th Swiss Geoscience Meeting was "Cycles and Events in the Earth System" and five invited keynote speakers illustrated the importance of stochastic events and recurrent mechanisms in shaping and changing the Earth and its biosphere.
On Saturday 16th
About 232 talks were given and 196 posters were presented in 24 scientific symposia that covered the diverse spectrum of current research in geoscience, encompassing the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, the cryosphere, the biosphere, the atmosphere and the anthroposphere.
The SGM offers an ideal environment to also foster informal contacts and discussion between scientists: Such opportunities occur at the Swiss Geoscience Party on Friday evening, or during the poster session on Saturday. Special time slots are allocated to two poster sessions, at which the authors are present.
