The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is beginning its Sixth Assessment cycle. The WGII Technical Support Unit (TSU), which provides the scientific, technical and organisational support of the activities and products of the Working Group focusing on the Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability of Climate Change, is employed through the Alfred-Wegener-Institute in Bremen, Germany.
The Science Officer will work closely with the Co-Chairs of WGII and the Director of Science of the TSU. The successful candidate will assist in the science-related activities of the TSU, with a specific focus on the social sciences and climate change. He/she will provide scientific support in the scoping, preparation, and review of the WGII contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report and in any Special Reports co-organized by WGII. The Science Officer will also be involved in planning, preparing, conducting, and reporting on IPCC Workshops, Expert Meetings, and Communication and Outreach Events organized by WGII.
