Past, present and future sea level changes

Veranstaltungsort

Institute of Oceanography
Qingdao,
Shandong 266061
China

This Summer School will cover a wide range of physical processes contributing to global and regional sea level change: from observations to modelling of the main physical processes of global and regional sea level rise and variability. In addition, there is a specific focus on impact studies in coastal areas.

Clivar-Fio

The objective of the CLIVAR Summer School is to provide training and joint research opportunities for the next generation of climate and ocean scientists, while increasing the networking of early career scientists across different countries through provision of a biannual training course in English, with recognized international experts invited as lecturers at appropriate times, to around 40-45 young scientists and doctoral /master students globally. Also, the CLIVAR Summer School will establish a platform to foster international joint research among lectures and trainees, and to provide opportunities of exchanging visiting scholars and doctoral education.

Meanwhile, a training course organised by UNESCO/IOC Regional Training and Research Center on Ocean Dynamics and Climate (ODC) on "Ocean Forecast Systems" will be organised back to back with the CLIVAR Summer School, from July 2 to 7, 2018 also in Qingdao, China. The ODC training course will cover regional ocean forecast systems, from ocean data assimilation, forecast of wave, tide and circulation in regional and coastal areas, and to practice of regional ocean forecast and interpretation of numerical results.
