Veranstaltungsort

Kuppelraum
University of Bern
Hochschulstrasse 4

A half-day information and networking event specifically dedicated to Early Career Researchers based in Switzerland and whose scientific background, research or expertise relates to climate change.

New Logo Mountain Research Initiative

The event format is a series of inputs from experts in the IPCC assessment process and prominent climate scientists in Switzerland. They will provide some background information on the assessment process as well as perspectives from the scientific communities working on mountains, polar regions and past climates as to the challenges and prospects for research on climate change in these environments.

The event wants to:

  • Raise awareness and interest among ECRs in developing necessary skills and expertise to conduct scientific assessments, fostering their professional competence and expertise in future global assessments;
  • Enhance networking and cohesion within Swiss scientific research community, especially among up and coming Swiss scientists regarding topics relevant for climate change and IPCC;
  • Be an opportunity for MRI, PAGES and ProClim to assess and evaluate interest and relevance for such events and consider offering adapted version for such events as part of the AR6 (WG1, WG2 and/or also WG3).

The event is also an opportunity to share personal experiences and recommendations for those considering involvement in the future, potentially as part of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.
