EUSALP Energy Conference: Climate, Risks, Energies

Stakes and assets of Alpine territories in post–crisis management

Veranstaltungsort

Le Majestic - Centre des Congrès
241 all du Majestic

France

The conference "CLIMATE, RISKS, ENERGIES: Stakes and assets of Alpine territories in post–crisis management" will be held in Chamonix, on September 30th and October 1st, 2020. Organized by the French Presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP), it will highlight the experience of Alpine territories in the management of natural risks, their need to adapt to climate change and their energy strategies.

Nature dans es alpes

In the long standing effort to adapt to climate change and in the midst of the current health crisis, the inhabitants of the Alps must reexamine the relationship with the environment and living beings, the modes of governance and the capacities of adaptation, especially in mountain territories. Given the delicate balance of the mountain ecosystems, the Alpine actors cannot ignore the risks surrounding our territories to which we must adapt.

Alpine territories have been in the frontline of climate change, pioneering risk management and energy strategies, among others. This experience and vulnerability must be at the core of the recovery plans that will be developed in the months to come.

Join for two days to discuss the challenges and needs to lead the way in the fight against climate change in this COVID-19 context, participate in thematic workshops (September 30th), and get acquainted with the actions taken near our venue through field trips (October 1st).
